HILLINGDON CONSERVATIVES: PUTTING RESIDENTS FIRST
Sound Financial Management:
Delivery of the best value services in London, keeping Council Tax as low as possible and giving residents discounts with their Hillingdon First Card, including the cheapest parking in London. We continue to use our ward budget initiatives to enable Councillors to support local projects and groups in their areas.
A Free and Easy to use Refuse Service:
Conservative controlled Hillingdon Council maintain a weekly refuse and recycling collection service, and in recent years we have also made improvements to this service with the introduction of food waste and textile recycling collections. These additions have been well received by residents across Hillingdon, and at no extra cost.
In comparison, neighbouring Labour controlled Ealing Council recently forced through fortnightly collections on their residents and now charge £80 a year for collection of their garden waste.
Assisting Hillingdon Families
We continue to provide advice and support to those in need, running the Fiesta programme for young people, as well as a range of benefits to residents over the age of 65 including tea dances and free swimming lessons. We clamp down strongly on anti social behaviour and work in close partnership with local police teams in order for Hillingdon families to feel safe locally.
Our Local Environment:
Guaranteed continuation of free and easy to use weekly refuse, recycling, green and food waste collections. Maintaining our award winning parks and open spaces, with playground and outdoor gyms along with welcoming town centre shopping parades and high quality road resurfacing and pavement renewal. Ongoing investment to improve canals and towpaths through Hillingdon.
Investing in Top Class Facilities:
Each Hillingdon child continues to have access to a high quality school place, supported with our well located, refurbished and high-tech libraries. We continue to provide an outstanding leisure offering across the Borough including a new Leisure Centre in West Drayton.
High Quality Parks and Open Spaces:
Hillingdon has more Green flags than any other local authority in the UK. Green Flag awards are given to parks and green spaces that meet high standards and their status must be renewed each year. They are judged by a group of environmental charities, including Keep Britain Tidy.
In addition to this, we have also refurbished local playgrounds for young children and their families, and installed new Outdoor Gyms across the Borough to allow residents the opportunity to exercise and improve their health.
Investing in Roads and Footpaths:
Across Hillingdon there is a high level of vehicle dependency and to assist residents we have spent a record amount in resurfacing a large number of roads and footpaths across the Borough.
Leading the Green Agenda:
Reducing our carbon footprint and also introducing Santander bikes more widely across Hillingdon more widely. We will also be delivery a rapid increase in the number of electric vehicle charging points, and planting many more trees across the Borough over the next 4 years.
